Rumours about the Nexus Prime aka Galaxy Nexus have been floating around for months as Google is preparing their next major Android update called ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. All evidence points to Samsung being again the manufacturer of choice, even though some people would have liked to see another company getting a shot at it. Samsung is currently the most successful Android Smartphone manufacturer...
Review: HTC Sense 3.0 (HTC Sensation) – Better than vanilla Android?
HTC Sense was the reason why i switched from Windows Mobile to Android. I was looking for something new as Microsoft didn’t innovate with Windows Mobile for many years, but at the same time vanilla Android running on the T-Mobile G1 just wasn’t attractive enough for me. The user interface looked like it was in beta stage, and a lot of functionality was missing (i.e. full exchange server...
Google acquires Motorola Mobility
Today Google announced that Motorola Mobility will soon be a part of the Google empire. At first this might seem very surprising as Google always said that they are not interested getting into the hardware business, but looking at all those recent patent issues Google has to handle it makes a lot of sense for them to strengthen their mobile patent portfolio.
Of course Android will remain open and its...
Lenovo redefines the word bloatware with the Android IdeaPad K1
Lenovo recently presented their medium range Android Tablet called IdeaPad K1 and blogs like engadget already published reviews for it. As expected this tablet doesn’t come with groundbreaking technical specs, but has a low price tag (499$) which makes it attractive for customers which don’t want to spend much more than 500$ to get the thinnest and lightest tablets out there (i’m...
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will get TouchWiz UI update in August – Tears of Joy and Sorrow have been witnessed
Samsung announced an update which will bring their custom UI called TouchWiz to the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Update is scheduled to be rolled out in august for US devices, and according to Samsung it’s optional as you can decline to install TouchWiz. To me the Galaxy 10.1 tab is currently the...
Matias Duarte (Director User Experience Android) speaks about Android versus iOS UI
Techcrunch just published some tidbits about their recently held Mobile First CrunchUp. During the talks Matias Duarte (who switched from Palms webOS design lead to Google and became Director of User Experience for Android) was asked why iOS apps look better than most Android apps. His answer was: “Why are Sicilians more handsome than other gentleman?” followed by “The Android ecosystem...
Android marketshare in US reaches 39%
The latest data from Nielsen indicates that Android currently takes the crown regarding mobile OS market share with 39%. Apple and RIM follow with 28% and 20% respectively. Windows Phone 7 has about 9%, while webOS and Symbian basically have no marketshare with only 2% each.
I think that RIM will continue to lose ground and Windows Phone 7 should be able to surpass Blackberry devices in the coming...

Review: HTC Sensation Hardware Impressions
Everybody has been waiting for HTC to release it’s first dual core CPU smartphone. While other manufacturers offer dual core devices for quite some time now, HTC hesitated to push the envelope on their phones hardware specs until now. The HTC Sensation is HTCs new flagship device which finally introduces a dual core CPU as well as HTC Sense 3.0 and a huge 4.3 inch screen. Vodafone was the first...
Review: Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) for Nexus One
What an coincidence. Just a few days ago i wrote an article about Android fragmentation and how many Nexus One customers were unhappy with the way Google handled the Gingerbread rollout. It was more than one month ago when Google said the update is coming within the “next weeks”, and after that they went silent. Some people even thought that Google won’t rollout any more updates for...
